Learn To Hunt Series 2

The Alberta Hunter Education Instructors’ Association is pleased to introduce a “Learn to Hunt Series 2” program for new and novice hunters. Held over 6 months, this program arms new and novice hunters with everything needed to be a confident, knowledgeable, and successful hunter. While making friendships with other first-time hunters, participants will experience a wide variety of classes. A $50 refundable deposit will reserve a seat for all classes. Classes run from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at our office located at Unit 88, 4003 – 98 Street, Edmonton, AB T6E 6M8. Spaces are limited so register early. This program is available for ages 12 years and older. Participants 12 to 17 years old must be with a registered parent/guardian. Class 1: May 20 – Introduction and wildlife identification. Class 2: June 16 – How to understand google maps to find deer, bedding, feeding, corridors. Class 3: June 27 – How to find land access, private property, leased land, crown land for hunting. Class 4: July 14 - Archery, equipment, set-ups, techniques. Class 5: Aug 18 – Clothing and equipment. Class 6: Sept 9 - Choosing the right firearm for the right animal/ballistics. Class 7: Sept 29 – Waterfowl identification/hunting methods. Class 8: Oct 14 – Field dressing, taxidermy, butcher shops, transporting of wild game. AHEIA Hunting Draws Workshop!

This workshop is geared mainly toward new and novice hunters and will teach you how to navigate the seemingly complicated Alberta Hunting Draw system!

We will cover topics such as:
·         Draw Rules
·         Draws available
·         General Hunting Regs
·         Important Notices and Common License Mistakes
·         Group Applications
·         Draw Results
·         Undersubscribed Licences
 
If you are able to bring a laptop or tablet to the workshop, we will help you get set up with your WiN Number and Wildlife Certificate, and also help you apply for your draws. This workshop will be hosted in Calgary and Edmonton on June 10, 2025.

AHEIA Hunter Education and Fishing Education Instructor Course - June 6, 2025

This course will provide the participants with training to effectively instruct the Alberta Conservation and Hunter Education Certificate and Fishing Education Certificate.

All participants must meet the following requirements:
- Current AHEIA membership
- Successful volunteer screen
- 18 years of age or older
- Taken the AHEIA Hunter Education course (online or in-class) after 2014
- Taken the AHEIA Fishing Education course (online or in-class) after 2014
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated hunting and/or fishing experience

If you have not taken the Hunter Ed or Fishing Ed course after 2014, contact edmontoninfo@aheia.com to arrange to take the online classes. You will be given further information regarding a criminal record check after completing your registration.

The Hunter and Fishing Education Instructor Course will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at AHEIA's Edmonton office, Unit 88, 4003 - 98 Street.
